Range Hood

Some good work got done today. The biggest piece was the installation of the range hood, its blower fan and the vent tube going to the outside. They still have to hook up the electrical, install a vent cap outside to cover the vent, and attach the metal piece that covers the vent tube there. They have a temporary cover on it now. On a different note, they also cut holes in the islands for electrical outlet boxes.

They also cut and installed this valance piece over the window. All the cabinets will eventually have a crown molding piece around the top to finish off the look.

They also pulled this above the fridge cabinet forward a little bit so the cabinet face is flush with front. It was sitting a little too far back when the initially installed it.

Let There Be Light!

Raul came today and got a lot of work done: switches, dimmers, outlets, fixtures, undercabinet lights. Looking good!

Light Fixtures

We love these light fixtures. We got three sconces (not scones ;) and two pendants. The shades are made of onxy/soapstone and the stanchions are just a silvery metal. They are on dimmers too, so we can make them glow and show the grain of the stone or make them brighter.

Outlets & Switches

Lots and lots of electrical work done today. Here's a closeup of some of the outlets and switches.

Garbage disposal switch, undercabinet light switches and outlet box. The strip on the front is one of the undercabinet lights.

What's in the Box?

Among the boxes waiting in the garage for their turn to be installed are:

The sink and faucet.

Range hood

Floor tiles and trim pieces

Fireplace

Chris the gas guy came in yesterday and did some more work, getting most of the fireplace installed. He got up on the roof and slid the air conduit and vent conduit down into the chimney, and then got the gas log unit situated in the fireplace. He just has to button everything up now and get the trim pieces and doors on. We do have to wait until it is inspected before we're allowed to use it though.

The thing in the package is a carbon monoxide detector. You can also see the red gas valve through the crack there. The gauge there is for pressure testing.

These are the old doors and the old grate.

Desk Cabinets

These are the last bits of cabinetry that needed to be installed. They are the support pieces for the desk in the little office area.

This one will be the file cabinet.
